Patients Share Their Insights on Dying

Patients talk about living, dying, life after death

There can be nothing more personal in life than the acts of being born and of dying. These are the times in our lives when all of our hopes are fulfilled, all of our fears subside, and when beyond anything else, love prevails.

With the help of hospice, patients and families have the chance to spend needed time together ... quality time ... time of the most intimate and personal nature.

Even in these most personal of times, many of our patients are open to sharing with others their thoughts and feelings about what they're going through, in hopes that they might help others better understand what to expect.

They've shared a range of insights on dying including:

  • What it's like to journey through the process of dying
  • Their reflections on life,
  • If they believe there in life after death.

We thank these patients for their profound contribution to our understanding of the process of dying, and for their insights on the question of is there life after death.

You can find on this page, and elsewhere on this website, some of the thoughts and feelings of patients we've been privileged to serve.

Patty's Last Ride

Patty on the Softail Patty was a feisty forty-three year old ... only four feet ten-and-a-half inches and no more than 100 pounds. Patty was dying at a young age, but she left us with a message of hope.

Patty spoke at length about her thoughts and feelings to a hospice volunteer. Click here to read excerpts of Patty's remarkable story about life and death.

Sarah Reflects on What's Next

Hand reaching outSarah was an elderly woman, who still had a ton of energy left. She was defying all odds.  The doctors told her she only had about a month left ... then it was six months ... then a year.  Finally, they stopped trying to guess.

We were so happy she wanted to share the story of her life with us. Click here to read excerpts of our conversations with Sarah, about her life, death, and her thoughts about life after death.
