Who is eligible? Hospice of The Gorge services are appropriate for anyone who has received a terminal diagnosis and is no longer seeking curative treatment. You may still receive palliative (comfort) treatment for your illness as well as treatment for other issues. Medicare has established a "diagnosis timeframe" of six months or less in order to be eligible for hospice care. However, no one can know how much time an illness will take to run its course. Establishing a relationship with the Hospice care team early on can benefit both you and your family—more often than not, people tell us, "I wish we had called Hospice sooner." Hospice of The Gorge serves people in eight counties: Skamania and Klickitat in Washington, and Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Morrow and Wheeler counties in Oregon.  |
