Hood River Hospice Center & Memory Garden
The Hood River Hospice Center was built thanks to a bequest from a former patient who lived in White Salmon, Jo Ann Roberts. This seed money was soon followed by grants from The Collins Foundation, The Ford Family Foundation, Jeld-Wen Foundation, M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, Meyer Memorial Trust and hundreds of local supporters. When the building was dedicated at a public celebration in April 2004, it was paid in full.
The Hospice Center features offices that surround a versatile conference room that can be divided for a variety of groups and events. The room is available to the public for meetings, and houses our end-of-life reference library. The foyer features a tree-of-life mural that was painted by Louise Harris Emerson.
Adjacent to the Hospice Center is an outdoor Memory Garden that was designed by Marion McNew of Mt. Hood Gardens to reflect life's journey. This healing garden, completed in October 2006, is open to the public. In addition to various plantings, tiles, fountains and benches, the garden features a mural by Mark Nilsson.
