Help Fight Cancer!
Oregon Cancer Ski Out in Hood River
Ski
Mt. Hood
Gorge residents have a unique and fun-filled opportunity to join in a state-wide effort to fight cancer, right here in our backyard.
Every year in March, since 1988, the Oregon Cancer Ski Out takes place at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort.
Proceeds help cancer patients and their families through donations to beneficiaries including; locally based Hospice of The Gorge; OHSU Cancer Research Institute; Willamette Falls Hospice; and, the Candlelighters children’s program.
Ski Out Party at Best Western Hood River
Most of the Cancer Ski Out takes place at Mt. Hood Meadows, but another opportunity for participants to support the effort takes place at a fundraiser party, held at the Best Western Hood River Inn Gorge Room.
Called the "Cowboy Up" party, the event includes
a night of casino games, fifty
dollars in “casino” money, dancing to a live
band, light snacks and a no-host bar.
Participants ... wear your best western
duds if you want, or come just as yourself.
How the Proceeds are Used
From Gretchn Hagen, Executive Director,
Hospice of The Gorge
Our
sincere thanks goes to the Oregon Cancer Ski
Out. Their
event gives us a chance to do something useful about
our frustration with cancer.
Oregon Cancer Ski Out proceeds donated to Hospice of The Gorge have been used to help fund our Children’s Grief Support Group, the only child-focused bereavement effort in our area.
With the support of friends like the Ski Out, our efforts to help these grieving children are beginnning to show results. Before now, children living in our service area simply had nowhere to turn for help.
With the ongoing support of the Oregon Cancer Ski Out others like them, we believe we can continue to develop our Children's Grief program, and be able to help more and more children over time.
Thanks you so much!
Sincerely,
Gretchen Hagen
Executive Director, Hospice of The Gorge

The success of the Oregon Cancer Ski Out is due to
the strong support of team participants and corporate sponsors.
Still, there's room for more sponsors and for more support. Please
let us know if you want to get involved in some way.
